Ray Bohacz laments over the state of our nation and how true car guys are disappearing. He explains how this loss will impact the strength of America in the future.
Ray,
I couldn’t agree more about the car guy being dead. I think it’s part of the regular guy being dead as well. With the toxic masculinity nonsense, men with earrings and polished nails, etc., all being partially responsible for killing the car guy. In some respects we did it to ourselves. Back when I worked at the Chevy dealer, the mechanics insisted on being called technicians. I told them you are technicians because without a scanner and a code, a technician can’t fix anything. But, a mechanic can diagnose by smell, or just plain figure things out with deductive reasoning. I told them they can all be technicians but I’d prefer to remain a mechanic. That way I can fix stuff without manuals and scanners. This is not to say diagnostic tools and books have no value, because that would be senseless. However I’ll prefer to be the guy who repairs the snowmobile carburetor with no manual, than the technician who couldn’t figure it out. This car guy ain’t dead yet! I love the show, so keep it up fellow car guy!!
Regards,
Bruce
