This episode was triggered by the discussion in the ethanol industry to encourage higher octane blends. Though Ray Bohacz, the Hot Rod Farmer, is a huge supporter of biofuels, the ethanol community’s claim that octane is the sole key to engine performance is false. For the good of everyone it needs to be debunked.
Hi Ray,
I listened to the octane podcast the other night, some great information! Farm Journal’s Agritalk is in real high favor of ethanol, touting its high octane properties and how that can benefit a wide variety of applications.
Though ethanol is lower in btu, they don’t seem to ever talk about that.
Do we really need to use ethanol and do we really need to use food crops for its production? Surely doesn’t seem like it.
Sincerely Andy
